The 100-Day Admission War Plan — DU, BUET, Medical (2026)

Every year, ~1.2 million students take HSC in Bangladesh. Roughly 25,000 seats exist across DU, BUET, RUET, CUET, KUET, and medical colleges combined. That is a 2% admit rate. The students who win are not the smartest — they are the most structured. This is the plan. Follow it exactly for 100 days and your odds triple.

Day 1-7: choose your primary target

Pick ONE primary target. Not two. Not 'DU or BUET, whichever works out.' One. Your prep will look completely different for each. DU: broader, English-heavy, faster MCQs. BUET: deep Math + Physics, fewer but harder questions. Medical: Biology + Chemistry volume, speed-critical. Trying to prep for all three equally loses all three. Pick based on: which subjects you scored highest in HSC, what career you actually want, and your family's honest financial situation.

Day 8-30: syllabus rebuild

Do NOT touch MCQ books yet. For 3 weeks, re-read HSC textbooks — every chapter, at 2x reading speed. Purpose: rebuild context. Students who skip this and jump to MCQs plateau at 55-60% accuracy and never break through. The rebuild works because admission questions test conceptual depth, not memorization. Read Physics like a story, not like memorizing formulas. Read Biology like anatomy, not like flashcards.

Day 31-70: MCQ volume with tracking

80-120 MCQs daily, mixed subjects. Rule: track every wrong answer by chapter. Once a week, count wrongs by chapter. The top 3 wrong-chapters get 90 minutes of re-study each. This is how top scorers work — not raw hours, but ruthless prioritization of weakness. Use a habit tracker (studies.bd is free and built for this) to log daily MCQ count. If you miss 2 days in a row, you lose the streak — plan around it.

Day 71-90: mock tests, exam conditions

Two full mocks per week minimum. Real conditions — timer on, phone off, sitting straight in a chair for the full duration. Coaching center mocks (UCC, Udvash, Mentors) are fine, or use previous years' question banks. Non-negotiable rule: review every wrong answer the same day, before sleep. Mock without review is theatre. Same-day review is what converts a mock into permanent memory.

Day 91-100: taper, sleep, DO NOT CRAM

This is where most students destroy themselves. They panic and study 12 hours a day the final week. That behavior demonstrably lowers exam performance — sleep deprivation destroys working memory. What actually works: halve your study time, sleep 8-9 hours, review formula sheets and weak chapters only, walk 30 minutes daily, eat well. The taper feels wrong — 'shouldn't I be studying more?' — but the data is unambiguous. Rested brains score higher.

For parents: what you can actually do

Do not become an overseer. Do not check their MCQ count. Do not ask 'aaj koto porso?' every night. What helps: keep the house calm, provide food, protect sleep, don't invite relatives during these 100 days. Ask once a week: 'Is there anything I can do?' — and mean it. Silent support beats loud pressure every time. Every year the top DU/BUET/Medical scorers say the same thing: 'my parents just let me work.'

The hard truth about coaching centers

Coaching centers help two things: structure (a schedule you must follow) and peer pressure (seeing others work). They do not have secret knowledge. Every year, top scorers include self-study students who never joined coaching. If your family can afford it, join for the structure. If not, replicate structure with a written schedule + daily habit tracker + one accountability partner. The determining factor is consistency of daily hours, not the brand of coaching.

Backup plan — because it matters

Have a real, unashamed backup plan by day 30. Not 'I'll retry next year' (financially and mentally brutal). Realistic alternatives: private universities (NSU, BRAC, AIUB, IUB — many now match public in engineering/CSE), overseas (Malaysia/Turkey/Germany for those who can), technical/BUTEX, National University. A backup plan lowers exam-day anxiety measurably. Students with clear backup plans score higher, not lower, on the primary test. Confidence.
